Levels 1-5 are free. Levels 6-30 need a $3 licence key. About the full pack
Driftquartz is a puzzle game with no ads, no sign-up and no download. This page says what each of those means on this site, and also what is not free, so that nothing comes as a surprise.
Level 1 at the start: the amber piece, a blue gem, grey walls and the shut exit (the crossed ring).
No ads
The game shows no ads: no banners, no video before a level and no reward for watching anything. It loads no ad network and no analytics script, it sets no cookies, and every file it uses comes from this site. The only visit statistics are the host's own aggregate counts, such as how many requests the site receives; they are totals, not a profile of any visitor.
No sign-up
There is no account, and the game asks for no email address and no name. Your progress, which is the level you are on and your best move count for each level, is saved in your browser's local storage on your device and is not sent anywhere. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes it.
No download
The game is an ordinary web page. It needs a current browser with JavaScript switched on and nothing else: no app, no plug-in, no installer. It works with a keyboard, a mouse or a touch screen.
What is not free
Five levels are free and 25 are paid. The paid levels, numbered 6 to 30, need a licence key that costs $3 and is sold on Gumroad. Gumroad handles the payment under its own privacy policy, and the game never sees your payment details. When you enter the key, it is sent to this site, which asks Gumroad whether the key belongs to a valid purchase. That is the only time the game talks to a server after the page has loaded. The privacy page has the details.
The game itself
You slide an amber piece around a board. Pick up, down, left or right and the piece slides in a straight line until a wall or the edge of the board blocks it; it cannot stop halfway. It collects every gem it slides over. The exit is shut until every gem is collected, and while it is shut the piece passes over it like floor. Then it opens and catches the piece.
Level 1 shows the idea on a 5 by 5 board with one gem and three walls. From the bottom left corner the piece slides right, four cells, to the edge. It slides up three cells, crossing the shut exit, and stops on the gem against a wall, which opens the exit. It slides down two cells into the exit. That is three moves, the par for level 1; par is the smallest number of moves that solves a level. The how to play page has the controls.
How much game there is
The five free levels use boards of 5x5 and 6x6 with 1 to 3 gems, and their par runs from 3 to 7 moves. The 25 paid levels use boards from 7x7 to 10x10 with 3 to 6 gems, and their par runs from 8 to 20 moves.
What is free and what costs $3
Levels 1-5 are free: no account, no key, no time limit. Levels 6-30 are the full pack and need a $3 licence key, sold on Gumroad.
Gumroad shows the key after the purchase and on your receipt. You enter it on the unlock page and the 25 extra levels are stored in this browser. The key itself is not stored in your browser.
